Tottenham is thriving under their new manager, Ange Postecoglou. His attacking-first approach is a joy to watch, making people forget about the painful performances over the past few years.

It might be fair to point out that recruiting players who fit into his philosophy has played a crucial role in their current uprising. Although painful rebuilding was widely recognised as what they really needed, the club opted for a manager who focuses on winning trophies by acquiring and utilising experienced players. However, it seems the lessons have been learned. They chose the right manager and brilliant players who also haven’t depleted their notoriously shy bank account balance.

Speaking of the players who recently joined the club or arrived last summer and are thriving now, it makes me wonder if there were any players who could have excelled under the current manager and system. Here are my thoughts.

Harry Kane worked with him briefly but chose to leave, so he’s not included. Let’s discuss the players who left the club before Ange joined.

Christian Eriksen

It’s necessary to mention that Eriksen chose to leave the club for a new adventure, although the club wanted to keep him. But what if he had stuck around for a couple of years and met Ange? I reckon he would have been one of the pillars in the system. He’s not only an assist machine but also capable of scoring goals inside and outside of the box. He’s creative like Maddison, but…
