The January transfer window has ended. Tottenham Hotspur managed to bring two young players in from Juventus (it could be seen they paid the Italian club for Dusan Vlahovic). On the other hand, Spurs also tied the squad up by sending loans and selling players the Spurs manager Antonio Conte can’t rely on.

As Conte admitted, it’s not common to see players who were brought in a couple of years ago going to loan or leaving the club. He suggested something went wrong and stressed they need to pay more attention to the market.

Conte has been trying to build a team that runs the idea of his football since replacing Nuno last November. To achieve what he and the club want, they need top-class players. As the Italian openly demands many times, he wants top-class players to execute his football. There is no doubt in his game as he has proved in Italy and England.

So what can Spurs fans realistically want this season?

All they need is a place in the Champions League. This is the key to luring top-class players to join the north London club. Yes, it would help the club financially too. The more important thing is to get back to the top 4.

Here is why.

Tottenham as a football club has many attractions to the top-class players.
