Naver Axes Real-time searching rank

Naver, a Korean version of Google, has announced that it ends a real-time searching rank. The most popular search engine in South Korea started the service 16 years ago. The rank shows what people are searching for in real-time.

As opposed to Google, there are lots of things going on Naver’s main page that consists of news, advertisement, blog, various services that Naver provides and the real-time searching rank.

As human beings, we are addicted to knowing what’s going on around us or the world. As we’re too busy to look through news, the rank is too charming to skip. While we’re on a short break from work or study, the trending topics give us an idea of what a hot topic is at the moment. It wouldn’t be exaggerating that this searching rank brought people into Naver, making it thrive.

However, there have been lots of controversies about its algorithm. Some people believe Naver manipulates it for political reasons, OR Naver is pressured by a political party or certain group of people in power to rig it.
